FACTS: What Does Superior Insurance Group Do With Your Personal Information?
Why? Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.
What? The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include: Social Security number and date of birth, driver's license number and driving record, income and employment information, property and vehicle information, claims history, and payment and billing information.
How? All financial companies need to share customers' personal information to run their everyday business. In the sections below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their customers' personal information, the reasons Superior Insurance Group chooses to share, and whether you can limit this sharing.
1. Categories of Nonpublic Personal Information Collected
We collect nonpublic personal information (NPI) about you from the following sources:
Information from Applications and Forms
Insurance intake forms (personal auto, homeowners, business owner's policy, contractors, life, recreational, umbrella)
Voice intake submissions via our AI-assisted voice data collection system
Website quote request forms at superiorinsurancegrp.com
Claims submissions and supporting documentation
This includes: name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license number, vehicle identification numbers (VINs), property details, business information, income, marital status, beneficiary information, and prior insurance history.
Transaction Information
Policy coverage details, premiums, and payment history
Claims history, including dates, amounts, and outcomes
Commission and billing records
Information from Third Parties
Consumer reporting agencies (motor vehicle records, CLUE and A-PLUS claims history reports)
Insurance carriers providing policy and claims data
Public records (property assessor data, business filings, permit records)
Information Collected Through Technology
Data entered through our SIG Platform mobile and web application
Voice recordings processed for speech-to-text transcription (deleted immediately after transcription)
AI-assisted data extraction from uploaded documents such as declarations pages
Device information, session data, and usage analytics
2. Categories of NPI Disclosed to Third Parties
Identifying information such as name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, and driver's license number
Application information including coverage requests, property details, vehicle information, and risk characteristics
Transaction information such as policy details, premium amounts, claims history, and payment records
Consumer report information such as driving records and prior claims history
3. Categories of Affiliates and Nonaffiliated Third Parties
Insurance Carriers
We disclose your application and underwriting information to insurance carriers for the purpose of obtaining quotes, binding coverage, processing claims, and servicing your policies.
Service Providers (Under Data Processing Agreements)
We use the following technology service providers to operate our agency management system. Each processes data solely on our behalf under contractual data protection obligations:
Supabase, Inc. — Secure database hosting, user authentication, encrypted file storage, and serverless edge functions
Anthropic PBC — AI-powered insurance Q&A, form field extraction, and document data extraction
OpenAI, Inc. — Speech-to-text transcription (fallback system; audio not retained after processing)
Google LLC — Voice processing services (text-to-speech for accessibility)
Resend, Inc. — Transactional email delivery for policy communications
Zoom Communications, Inc. — Business phone, SMS, and video communication
Vercel, Inc. — Application hosting and content delivery
Mapbox, Inc. — Address autocomplete and geocoding (addresses only, no PII)
Regulatory and Legal Authorities
We may disclose your information when required by law, regulation, or legal process, including to the Illinois Department of Insurance.
We do NOT share with: data brokers, data resellers, marketing companies for cross-selling unrelated products, or any entity for purposes unrelated to your insurance service.
4. Right to Opt Out
We do not share your nonpublic personal information with nonaffiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes. Therefore, there is no need for you to opt out of such sharing.
Superior Insurance Group LLC does not have any affiliated companies at this time. We do not currently have any joint marketing agreements with other financial institutions. If either of these changes, we will provide you with an updated notice and the opportunity to opt out.
Your rights: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. You may opt out of marketing communications and withdraw consent for voice recording features. Contact us using the information below.
5. Protection of Former Customers' Information
We apply the same privacy protections described in this notice to the nonpublic personal information of our former customers. When your relationship with us ends:
We continue to protect your information using the same security measures
We do not share your information with nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted by law
We retain your records for the minimum period required by Illinois law and then securely destroy them
Your data remains subject to the same access controls, encryption, and audit logging
6. Joint Marketing Agreements
Superior Insurance Group does not currently have any joint marketing agreements with other financial institutions. No categories of personal information are disclosed under joint marketing arrangements at this time. This notice will be updated if we enter into such agreements in the future.
7. How We Protect Your Information
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal and state regulations:
Automatic session timeout after 5 minutes of inactivity
Signed storage URLs with 1-hour expiration for document access
Comprehensive audit logging of all data access and modifications
Written Information Security Program (WISP) reviewed annually
Data processing agreements with all technology service providers
8. Data Retention
Insurance records: Minimum 7 years per 215 ILCS 5/500-80
Account data: Duration of active relationship plus 3 years after closure
Voice recordings: Deleted immediately after transcription
Communication logs: 3 years per TCPA compliance requirements
Audit logs: 7 years
After the applicable retention period, records are securely destroyed (cryptographic erasure for digital records, cross-cut shredding for physical documents).
